Käthe Kruse Dolls are a German Legend. The Käthe Kruse Doll Studio is the oldest German doll company that still exists, working in the traditional way. Handwork, simplicity of design, integrity, and an aversion to gimmicks and fads are still very much a part of how the dolls are made. Each doll and item of doll clothing is made by hand and takes from 16 to 36 hours to make. During that time, it will pass through the hands of 8 to 10 craftspeople and artists.
“The hand follow the heart...” has been Käthe Kruse’s workshop motto for nearly 100 years. “A doll has to be something a child can love” is another of Käthe Kruse’s sayings. One hundred years later all dolls and toys are still made by hand. Children’s needs are our focus when choosing designs and fabrics. Natural materials are used as much as possible. From soft dolls made to be a very first doll to dolls for the most discriminating collector, Käthe Kruse dolls mean quality, care, and attention to detail.

Steffi
and Luca come as a couple in a
beautiful presentation box. They
are 16.5 inches tall. Steffi’s
dress is made in traditional
dirndl style. Her deep blue velvet
bodice is embroidered with red
Swarovski crystals and has a lace
collar. Red ribbon and lace adorn
her white sleeves while delicate
country motifs appear on Steffi’s
light blue skirt. Her skirt is
trimmed with red ribbon and
decorated at the hem with a red
and white ruffle. Steffi’s
blonde hair is sweetly braided
into plaits.
Red
headed Luca, with the feisty
freckles and sparkling blue eyes,
is always found with Steffi. He is
dressed with blue, linen knickers
held up with suede suspenders. The
cozy brown and blue-checkered

like the bandana around his neck.

The eyes and mouths are hand-painted with oil paint. The genuine hand-knotted hair has been styled by a professional stylist.
This charming doll,
Ursel, prefers to be dressed festively. Her red plaid dress with the matching green top has a collar trimmed with noble lace. The waist is accentuated by a pretty lace, as is the attached petticoat. The red knit jacket with the pretty flowers is trimmed in white and green, which blends beautifully with the dress.
Ursel’s little feet are covered in ribbed stockings and red leather shoes. Her pretty, blonde hair is braided into buns and her green eyes give Ursel a lovely countenance.

Augustine is a Doll XII; half a century ago their names were Hampelchen. They have loosely sewn on arms and the legs are bendable at the hips.
Augustine is a dreamy girl with blonde, naturally curly hair that is braided down the back and decorated with red ribbons. Of her lovely flower wreath, she is especially proud.
Her ecru colored dress with delicate light blue strips has a checkered collar. The sleeves and skirt are trimmed with checkered fabric and the hem with delicate lace.
To add detail, the skirt has red hand stitched wooden pearls that complement her red, loden vest. To finish her outfit, Augustine wears matching red leather shoes.

Evi is a Doll IX, known half a century ago as Faithful Child. They have loosely sewn on arms and the legs are bendable at the hips.
Evi is from Oberammergau. This lovely little girl doll wears a pretty Dirndl dress and a white cotton blouse that is hand embroidered at the neck. The sleeveless Dirndl was manufactured from cotton fabric in soft pink and green tones and is trimmed with a pink velvet ribbon. Two small mother of pearl buttons decorate the top of the dress.

Leni is a Goldkind, standing 11 inches tall. Her arms are loosely sewn on, the head swivels and the legs are moveable in the hips. They are hand stuffed with deer hair in the traditional Kruse way and grow warm in your hands.
The little heads are lovingly hand painted and the genuine hair wigs hand knotted. They are real darlings. Red-haired Leni with the classic braids has dressed herself nicely for a date with friends.
Over her navy blue dress, with the delicate white dots, she wears a cotton apron in a soft floral pattern. The winged sleeves and lace trim at the hem and collar give this dress a special look. Two large bows are used to close and decorate the apron at the sides.
